Steam at least used to have a way to let you back up your games to an archive somewhere (and it used to let you split the archive so you could burn it to DVD-R discs). I thought you could run the games offline, but recently I realized it seems you need to be connected to Steam to run them - at least for newer titles. One of the games I have on Steam is Unreal Tournament '99 Gold, and I've been able to run its executable by itself, bypassing Steam - at least, after applying the 469 update, which consists ssimply of binaries that you can replace. ph> Or you could just warez? But I guess that doesn't work for online games. yeah.. I suppose it might work for some games but maybe not others. --- þ Synchronet þ Digital Distortion: digitaldistortionbbs.com .
