Here's a vintage recipe for "Apple Squares": Apple Squares 2 eggs 2 c. sugar 1/4 c. oil (Crisco) 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 c. flour 4 c. diced apples 1 c. walnuts, cut chunky (optional) Beat together the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla. Add baking soda, salt, cinnamon and flour. Mix well, then add apples and walnuts. Bake in lasagna size pan for 50 minutes at 325 degrees. Frost with Cream Cheese Icing.
