A friend of my brothers lived a few doors down from Lightfoot and he used to drop in now and then to play tunes with them. He was a very down to earth guy they said. Listening to some of his songs today I was reminded of how many of his pieces were in my repertoire. Rarely did I do more than a couple of songs by any one artist but I probably learned 8 or 10 of his over the years. Two of my most requested favourites at friend's parties were Edmund Fitz. and If You Could Read My Mind. I refer to parties with others who played guitar or fiddle. I didn't too often get paid to play although I was once offered a space on a mixed record for a song I wrote but that project sort of went under before it got to the production phase. Being a musician was never a big dream of mine though so it didn't break my heard. I played an electric guitar and wrote songs in a teenage rock group for a few years and later bought a 12 string and a couple of 6 string acoustic guitars and got more into folk type music so Lightfoot balads fit in well. But the world has lost a unique person and many of us will miss him.. --- * SLMR Rob * Optimism is a sign of inexperience * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
