Subj : ice floes drifting in To : AUGUST ABOLINS From : Rob Mccart Date : Wed Feb 05 2025 01:09:00 RM> I can remember years putting the foot RM> valve stand in around April 10th and getting cuts on my RM> legs from ice floes drifting in and hitting me when I was RM> in the water. AA>Whaaat? No hip waders? I had a cheap pair for a while but they didn't last long and then I decided having to get into the cold water just once a year for usually less than 10 minutes didn't justify buying a new set. The cold water doesn't bother me all that much. Earlier this winter when I was playing games with if it was safe to walk on the ice yet I went through the ice one day in about 3 feet of water and I expected to very quickly have chattering teeth and other issues, but after the initial shock it really didn't affect me that much. Obviously if I didn't get back to the house and warmed up I could have gone into hypothermia, I'm not an idiot, but it did surprise me that I didn't have a bigger reaction to it other, than being really annoyed..
