Subj : rogers/telus cutting To : AUGUST ABOLINS From : Rob Mccart Date : Sat Aug 09 2025 09:10:59 RM> Texting through Lucky is Global which the 'full' Bell services don't RM> offer (Lucky is a Bell company for prepaid users). AA>I recently needed to test an international text to an >australian visitor at my shop. It took a few retries wrt to >the proper numbering scheme (like dropping the 0 in the area >code!) ..but Lucky eventually delivered it! The delay was >several minutes for our messages to exchange. That's good to hear it works. I don't think I've ever gotten a text from outside of Ontario, although I'm not sure where some of the business texts may be coming from. Still probably in Canada usually (maybe?), but could be from other Provinces. No, wait.. I got one from Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago when I texted someone I didn't realize was out of the country.. It wasn't actively back and forth so I don't know if there was any delay there or not.. RM> If I use up all the data, it doesn't stop, it just slows RM> down. AA>That's the "unlimited" part of Luckymobile that I like too. >Even when throttled, it's still good enough to check email or >poll for echomail. Yes, since I went up to 16 Gig I've never run out so far but I did once or twice when I only had 8 Gig.. AA>I've got quite good bonus data by now with Lucky too. They have >a bonus for 6mos, and another for 12mos, plus I get the basic >auto-topup bonus and yet another "auto top-up bonus - 512MB >when registered". Yes, technically my plan only came with 10 Gig of data but with the added bonuses it brings it up to 16 Gig. AA>The only thing that bugs me is that with the $29 plan, I now >have a surplus of $1 accumulating each month with my minimum >$30 auto-topup! I'm now up to $16 of a "balance". The only way >I can force Lucky to use the balance is if I turn off auto-top >for a month. I didn't even know there was a $30 minimum, not a problem with my $35 plan.. They've given me the odd 'bonus' money at times so I have a balance of $7 or so which I doubt I will ever use too.. Too bad they don't apply that against your regular bills.. --- * SLMR Rob * If all is not lost, then where is it? * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
