Subj : bell's way, and batts To : Rob Mccart From : August Abolins Date : Mon Aug 18 2025 22:35:00 Hello Rob! ** On Monday 18.08.25 - 09:04, you wrote to me: AA>> I don't like the way Bell uses "credit" to make it look like >> you're "saving" $omething. They don't do to the "credits = saving" scheme. We simply get what we signed up for. AA>> My main phone is a Blackberry Q10, circa 2012! :D Works fine >> on the Lucky LTE network. RM> Wow.. and I thought I was bad.. B) RM> I assume you've changed the battery a few times? Actually, I had / have 3 batteries for it. The problem was that the previous owner damaged the USB charge port when she "stored" the USB cable connected to the Blackberry, wrapped the rest of the cable around the phone, and then shoved the whole thing into her purse! To get around that issue, it was a simple matter to get a couple of extra batteries and a charger. I got a bit lucky at first and got a couple of genuine batts and a genuine charger for only $35. I simply charge the batteries externally, and drop them in the phone when needed. The owner didn't like managing the battery charging that way (she wasn't closing the back cover properly!) ..and gave the phone to me. That was over 10 yrs ago now. Since then, one battery started swelling - so I discontinued that one, and then another simply seemed to cause random reboots! - so, I retired that one too. I recently got two more genuine Blackberry batteries for $7 ea + free shipping. They are solid performers and report 95% full charge by the time I drop them into the phone. The previous ones only reported around 80%. The Q10 can operate on one battery for several days if only on cellular (and data is off). When data is enabled, the batteries only last 6 - 8 hrs at the most. RM> I'm still using the original battery and, although it claims RM> 100% charge, I think it really only lasts 75% or so as long RM> as when it was new, but isn't bad enough to try to find a RM> replacemnt battery if they are still available. I saw one RM> on Amazon a while back for just $18, but buyers wrote back RM> saying the new battery didn't last as long and the old one RM> they were replacing because it was worn out so I didn't look RM> into that any further at the time. This is the OEM battery that I purchased: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/205186404313 ..maybe that seller has the model for your phone. AA>> You might like to look into OpenXP. It would make your >> connection operate as a point.. RM> I briefly had a look at that. I access this board by having RM> QWK files eMailed to me.. Is that how you use OpenXP ? This message is already pretty long on the battery topic. I'll resume the OpenXP topic in another message. -- ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.64 * Origin: Age Doesn't Matter Unless You're a Cheese (1:396/45.29) .
