Subj : bell's way, slmr's way To : ED VANCE From : Rob Mccart Date : Thu Aug 21 2025 08:08:28 RM>> My main issue that brought this on was an inability to copy >> and paste into SLMR with the setup I have. Is OpenXP Windows >> software, as opposed to DOS and does it support that ? EV>I started using SLMR but switched to MultiMail DOS when I noticed long messag >got cut off after IIRC 153 lines, PLUS long Taglines got cut off too when sav >to the TAGLINE.MR file. What I find recently is an attempt to save a Tagline pops up the blank line and I have to type it in myself. I was pretty sure it didn't used to do that.. In another conference one fellow (OGG) found a message I'd posted was totally messed up, lines out of order and some left off, but my message was nothing near 153 lines, more like 50 or so.. EV>I am 'thinking' when I used SLMR it had a option to Paste the Clipboard into >message. >SLMR used EDIT as a message editor and I learned that I could Open another >session of EDIT , Write or Paste something from Notepad I copied from, and >paste it in the second copy of EDIT, do what I wanted to modify and add to it >then highlight and Copy what I wished to Paste in the SLMR EDIT window and Sa >that contents so SLMR could put it in a .REP file. I use QuickEdit with my SLMR.. I hadn't though of trying a second copy opened to see what I can do. I know hitting Print Block didn't really do anything. One thing I may have to try out is I can split screen in QuickEdit and possibly there's a way to save the extra screen outside of SLMR (But I have my doubts).. I think things running in DOS Box are too far removed from Windows to transfer anything over. That said, it was mostly copy and pasting text INTO a message that I was looking to do most often, although the odd time I do copy something out of a message, and if it's any length at all, with SLMR Open, I go to the SLMR Folder in Windows and into the Work/Messages.dat file and I load that into my basic Windows editor (Win32pad) and search for the text I wanted to copy and then clean it up.. --- * SLMR Rob * This job sucks, but I've got a lot of Karma to burn off * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
