RH> Not macular degeneration, just a wrinkling of the retinal membrane. I RH> was told that the cataract removal could make them worse but it doesn't RH> seem to have. Still, they'll have to go at some point. DD> Certainly. But my friend Les is in the early stages which put it at DD> the front of my mind. And my grandmother went effectively blind from DD> it. As my chief entertainment is reading ... and I don't care for DD> audio books it's a matter of some concern. Understandable why it's on your mind then. I've never tried audio books but don't think I'd be as satisfied as with a real book. DD> on-line order a minimum of U$25 worth of items they will pick your DD> order, bag/box it and load it into your vehicle for you. If you DD> order U$100 worth delivery to your door is free. RH> We still do our shopping in person. DD> I shop in person for meats and produce. But, it's great for staple DD> items and canned goods. My old legs are not a big fan of big box DD> stores and I'm too darned proud to use a motorised cart. Maybe you need to try a "ride 'em" cart. They are a help; I used one for a while after I broke my foot. Main disadvantage was trying to reach something on upper shelves; you'll need a helper or a grab stick for that. DD> Now the only stores not doing some form of that are WallyWorld and the DD> no-frills places like Sav-A-Lot and ALDI. We have an Aldi in town but usually, if we need something (mostly non grocery), we go to Lidl as it's close by, just up the hill a bit from Wegman's. Steve was thinking of replacing our camper induction cook plate (from Aldi) but we don't get their flier, do get Lidl. Told him to start looking at the weekly on line flier from Aldi. DD> Hy-Vee is a sorta-kinda Midwestern Wegmans. RH> Sounds well worth exploring. DD> My house mate shops WallyWorld and Ruler Foods (Krogers no-frills DD> deal) and thinks he's saving money "big-time". HAH! By watching the DD> sales and adverts I do as well or better at the high-end, full service DD> places. Same as we trust Wegman's house brands over a lot of the lower end stores around us. --- Catch you later, Ruth rchaffly{at}earthlink{dot}net FIDO 1:396/45.28 ....
