Now I use the vent fan over the BS> stove, I never used to...to loud, and mine is vented to the outside. The vent for our kitchen goes back into the kitchen. The most it can do is to filter out a portion of the grease. Also, our clothes dryer does not vent to the outside. Instead, it goes to a "condensor" which filters out the lint. BS> I'm in a smaller place than you, I suspect. 140 units, all in one BS> building, 3 full floors and 1 partial. So the maintenance guys handle BS> "security" too. I have forgotten the number of units, but the total population is about 2400. There are four building clusters, each with four buildings plus a central lobby area. Our building has six floors as do many of them, sometimes with a "terrace" level under the first floor. DS> I agree with the volume of the fire alarm that is used as a building BS> ... When I moved in here I BS> laughed at the signs posted saying to use the stairs in the event of a BS> fire. At the time I could barely walk up a flight of stairs and I was BS> very slow going down since I never knew when I was going to catch my BS> heel on a step. Legs weren't working well at all. I read the sign BS> and mentally said "Well if there's a fire...I'm toast." We have a variety of walking ability here. Many can walk without assistance. About as many use a cane. Also prevalent are what are called rollators -- which is what I use since my legs would colapse after more than 50 yards. I could use the stairs if need be, but a number of rollator folks cannot do any sort of steps. Finally, there are many types of electric scooters.
