To clarify, regular Kokanee is a 5% Pilsner style lager and Kokanee
Gold, my favourite, is a full bodied dark lager that is a bit
stronger at 5.3% ABV.

You're not going to find any in Illinois.

It is sold in the Western provinces of Canada and the Pacific
Northwest states of the US, with limited distribution in the
Eastern provinces. Same with Alberta based Big Rock beer and ale.

But I have to go all the way to Ontario for Sam Adams!
