05 AUGUST 1916 - US CREATES AN AGENCY FOR NATIONAL PARKS: President 
Woodrow Wilson signs the National Park Service Organic Act 'to conserve 
the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wild life therein.' 
The National Park Service will grow to oversee more than 400 areas, 
including national parks, other land areas, and historic structures.

      Title: Yellowstone's Theodore Roosevelt Beans
 Categories: Beef, Pork, Beans, Vegetables, Sauces
      Yield: 10 servings
 
      1 lb Ground beef
    1/2 lb Bacon; in 1/2" pieces
      1 lg Onion; diced
     16 oz Can pork & beans
     12 oz Can kidney beans
     12 oz Can lima beans
     12 oz Can butter beans
    1/2 c  Brown sugar
      2 tb Cider vinegar
      1 tb Mustard
    1/2 c  Ketchup
           Salt and pepper
 
  Set the oven @ 325°F/165°C.
  
  In a frying pan, brown the ground beef and bacon. Drain
  the fat. Add the onions and sauté until soft. Stir in
  all the different cans of beans, brown sugar, vinegar,
  mustard, ketchup and salt and pepper. Transfer to a
  baking dish and cook for 45 minutes.
  
  Makes 8 to 12 servings.
