Subj : cheese powder To : DAVE DRUM From : JIM WELLER Date : Sun Oct 09 2022 22:03:00 -=> Quoting Dave Drum to Jim Weller <=- DD> Title: Olive Cheese Bread ,,, 1 Packet cheese mix ... has the DD> benefit of being a good use for those "cheese" packets that DD> come in Kraft dinner after I've used the macaroni to make DD> chilli-mac. My store carries cheese powder in bulk VERY cheaply, so I buy plain macaroni, never KD. I might use cheese powder in my breads but always real cheese in my mac and cheese and chili-mac. I just checked prices at Loblaws on-line: KD is $1.66 per box, so $8.80/kg while macaroni starts at just $2.80/kg. Since there's a turkey in the oven today there'll probably be a macaroni and cheese dish something like this sometime next week: MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Turkey Noodle Casserole Categories: Casseroles, Pasta, Turkey, Cheese, Condiments Yield: 4 Servings 2 c Cooked turkey, shredded 3 c Broccoli, chopped 3 tb Butter 2 tb Flour 1 Onion, chopped 1 1/2 c Milk 1/4 c Parmesan cheese 2 oz Cheddar cheese, shredded 1/4 ts Prepared mustard Salt and pepper 1/2 c Uncooked elbow macaroni Put the turkey and broccoli into an 8x8 casserole. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt the butter in a saucepan, and then add flour to make a roux. Add onion and milk, and cook over medium flame until mixture is thick, but do not boil. Off heat, add cheeses, mustard, salt, and pepper, and whisk until cheese is melted and incorporated into sauce. Pour sauce over turkey, add macaroni, cover, and bake 45 minutes. From: Brawny When I make a white sauce with mustard in it I generally use white pepper, add cayenne and just a pinch of nutmeg. -JW MMMMM Cheers Jim ....
