11 June 1962 - INMATES ESCAPE FROM 'THE ROCK' AND DISAPPEAR INTO THE
BAY: The infamous Alcatraz Island penitentiary has been thought
escape-proof, but The Rock loses three of its inmates today as they pose
dummy heads in their bunks, crawl through spoon-dug holes, scale the
prison fence, and shove off into San Francisco Bay on rafts made with
prison raincoats.

Inmates Clarence Anglin, John Anglin, and Frank Morris escaped from
Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, a maximum-security prison located on
Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. Late on the night of June 11 or
early morning of June 12, the three men tucked papier-m|och|- heads
resembling their own likenesses into their beds, broke out of the main
prison building via ventilation ducts and an unused utility corridor,
and departed the island aboard an improvised inflatable raft to an
uncertain fate. A fourth conspirator, Allen West, failed in his escape
attempt and remained on the island.

Hundreds of leads were pursued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) and local law enforcement officials in the ensuing years, but no
conclusive evidence has ever surfaced favoring the success or failure of
the attempt. Numerous theories of widely varying plausibility have been
proposed by authorities, reporters, family members, and amateur
enthusiasts. In 1979 the FBI officially concluded, on the basis of
circumstantial evidence and a preponderance of expert opinion, that the
men drowned in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay without reaching
the mainland. The U.S. Marshals Service case file remains open and
active, however, and Morris and the Anglin brothers remain on its wanted
list.

      Title: Alcatraz Cake
 Categories: Five, Cakes, Desserts, Nuts
      Yield: 10 servings

     3 md Egg whites
   1/4 c  Sugar
   1/4 c  Nuts
   300 g  Chocolate cream
   200 g  White icing

  Beat the egg whites with the goal, till they are
  consolidated, and, slow, the sugar.

  Then add the nuts (minced), flour and mix.

  Stretch this composition, in a tray, greased with oil,
  and hang with flour.

  Put the tray in the oven.

  After is ready, cut the dough in three parts vertically.
  Let it chill.

  Smear the cake dough with chocolate cream, and put them
  one over them.

  Then cut in cubes and glaze with icing.

  You can add little decorations from sugar, like little
  flowers, mushrooms, etc.
