One of the most respected professors at the college I graduated from
wore white socks--and had a stutter. He taught math, not my favorite
subject, but I had to take a math class so took the basic one he taught.
It was more abstract than the "kitchen math" I use now (both in the
kitchen and calculating cutting for quilts) but I passed, with a decent
grade.
