 There are still grandchildren of slaves alive today.

 It wasn't until 100 years after the end of slavery that Jim Crow
 was abolished by federal law. It still took decades to make that
 stick.

 In the year 2,000 Florida removed tens of thousands of
 legitimate black voters from the voting rolls, using a private
 company, Choice Point, and refused to allow the company to do a
 followup to insure the accuracy of their actions.

 Now, in Alabama, they are closing every DMV office in every
 county with more than 75% black population. So much for getting
 a photo ID being easy.
