Subj : Impeach the President To : BOB KLAHN From : Lee Lofaso Date : Wed Nov 19 2014 23:50:09 Hello Bob, LL>> Are Republicans insane? BK> Yes. I like to think that. LL>> Are the American people insane? BK> Quite possibly. I certainly hope so. LL>> Are our elected officials insane? BK> Most likely, at least a substantial number. If not, we are all in deep doo-doo. LL>> The fact of the matter is that good things happen for LL>> the American people when Democrats control everything - BK> True. Try telling that to Republicans. LL>> On the other side of the coin, bad things happen for LL>> the American people when Republicans control everything - BK> True. Try telling that to Republicans. Assuming they let you up after the last beating they gave you. LL>> In six years, the Obama Administration has managed the LL>> creation of 6.8 million new jobs in the private sector. LL>> Millions of working Americans have also been given the LL>> opportunity to have health insurance for the first time LL>> in their lives. All thanks to Obamacare. BK> True. We could do better. With single payer. Obamacare is not universal health care, even though Republicans would like folks to believe otherwise. Obamacare is not single payer, which is something far different. Obamacare is more like Romneycare on steroids rather than anything else. But still better than what we had before, which clearly was not working. LL>> "It's the economy, stupid!" - James Carville BK> Still true. I hate to imagine what the economy might be like if Mitt Romney had been elected president. In fact, I shudder at the thought. LL>> Clinton vs. Bush. That is the presumed presidential LL>> contest for 2016. But all the polls show Hillary Clinton LL>> trouncing Jeb Bush and all other Republican wannabes. BK> That is the election I dread. I was hoping Joe Biden would resign as vice president so that Hillary Clinton could get the job. But no. Joe Biden would never do that. Better to play second banana to an outgoing president than be on the campaign trail for the number one job in the land ... LL>> sworn in as president. And there is no way that Democrats LL>> will dump an incumbent president in favor of nominating a BK> A vice president to an impeached president? Republicans had to beg Richard Nixon to resign from office. Democrats had threatened, but were never really serious, about impeaching the guy or removing him from office. And to think Republicans almost pulled it off, with Gerald Ford losing a very close race to Jimmy Carter. That was back in 1976, when politicians still had brains. Fast forward to 2000, the beginning of the end of politics. Republicans had impeached, but not removed from office) President Clinton, who was already barred by the Constitution from being able to run for a third consecutive term. If Bill Clinton would have had any brains, he would have resigned from office. President Gore would easily have defeated the Republican upstart, George W. Bush, and there would have been no 9-11. We all know what happened next. Al Gore won the presidency, but was never allowed to hold his properly elected office. BK> Why would he want to be humiliated by the defeat he would surely face? Joe Biden has been involved in 67 political races. As far as I know, Joe Biden remains undefeated, and will be 73 years young in 2016 ... Happy Birthday, Joe! --Lee --- MesNews/1.08.05.00-gb * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2) .
