This flow emanated from a new eruptive mouth that opened at approximately the 2,800 m (9,186 ft) level on May 29, 2022. Though these flows look ominous, fortunately the Bove Valley acts as a container for the lava flow that would otherwise pour over the Etnean towns. Photos taken on June 2, 2022.
