I don't have the original in my OpenXP that was dated Dec 1. :(   
But I beg to differ on your non-deference.  There's a lot of  
begging going on.

Isn't there any way to adjust the quoting behaviour of GoldED?

Couldn't you clean up the quoting with a simple removal of the  
rogue quotes using column edit?  Maybe a little macro to delete  
the added initials and the ">" char and the space on the  
required line could expedite things.
