Subj : Apology To : All From : Daryl Stout Date : Thu Jun 13 2019 16:03:17 My apologies to Joe Mackey for missing our "rendezvous" this week. I had BBS and computer issues Monday and Tuesday, and did not get the message that he'd be in the Little Rock area until AFTER the fact on June 13. As it turned out, I was stuck at home the last 3 days, waiting for deliveries, and so today, June 13, the day when no thunderstorms were forecast to be in Arkansas, I decided to go visit my elderly Mom in the nursing home in Lonoke. Storms move back into the region over the weekend and last through much of next week, so that will "wash out" any errands...no pun intended. With the BBS issues, and having to redo all of the message areas, I am now way behind on packets, and likely lost some mail. Unfortunately, the message I got from Joe was sent out 2 days ago, and I didn't see it until after I got back home from Lonoke. I guess he had lost my email, but I can check that much more often than the BBS email. The glitch was with a bad origin line, showing the former domain of the BBS. I had thought that by going through and removing the origin line for each network, then adding a default origin line instead would do the trick, but it didn't take somehow. So, I zapped all of the message networks on the BBS, and rebuilt them from scratch...and that took 2 days to process over 1000 areas. Now, I'm being chided for not asking for help. I had done so, but I guess they forgot. I guess our meeting wasn't meant to be, and I feel guilty about it. So, maybe it's best that I leave the echo in disgrace. The BBS, ham radio, and square dancing, are the only things keeping me sane right now...but it may be time to take a break from the hobbies, and go off alone somewhere, and not logon or read messages for a good while. With thunderstorms likely here Saturday through much of next week, that will kill any computer or BBS work...plus the cell networks are the first things that fail around here when thunderstorms are in the area. My apologies to Joe Mackey again for "leaving him hanging", but I didn't get the message from him until after the fact...and, I feel guilty for what happened. I was so looking forward to our meeting and lunch. I will keep the Burma Shave ads going for now...but, I likely am going to be away from the BBS for awhile.
