The bus no longer stops in front of my house. I had a Christmas party to attend last year. It was held only a few miles from here and could have easily ridden my bike but it was raining. I thought of a cab but then I wanted to be there sometime that week, not whenever the cab decided to show up, so used LYFT. D/l the app and was told the ride would be there in one minute! And it was. I hurried and left the apartment and when I opened the And that fare was equal to what a cab would cost. The cab company here filed suit against LYFT and UBER and lost. We used to have three cab companies here (and a fella who just cruised around downtown picking up fares on the side). Now there's only one. Of course more people have cars now, the pop. has declined a lot, etc. > JM> The other day I took it out to play a quick game of solitaire and was told not to use while driving. :) > > You might wreck a good hand otherwise. Like the old joke: Don't drink and drive. You might hit a bump and spill your drink. :) That happened to me on my trip. I was going to visit an FOAF and slipping a cup of coffee when the lid came loose spilling coffee all over the front of my tee-shirt. :) (And it was too late to change it). > JM> I generally have that app off. Of course. > JM> Now I have little problem talking with strangers. > > Never mind those you run across in the echoes. It was funny when I was telling about my (then) upcoming trip and meeting people I only know online. They were aghast I would meet strangers, like you guys are axe murderers or something. (Other than some deranged person, why would anyone want to murder a Saw a funny meme recently on FB about then and now. In the past people told not to, among other things, get in a car with a stranger and now people use UBER, etc. I remember my mother telling me when I was a little boy "never get in a car with a stranger, unless he offers you candy first". :) In parking one day a young woman who worked in the office had given the attendant in the pay garage a lunch break and walking back to the office. I drove up in the cart and said "Hello little girl, would you like a ride? I have candy?" She quickly replied, "Show me the candy first". I nearly fell out of the cart laughing. > JM> On stage he never spoke a word, but off stage he wouldn't shut up. :) > > Interesting.
