I only wonder what they will have to say about JM> them... The scary thing is thinking how much worse things might get, so that the present /would/ be the good old days.... > At a Lowe's Truck Stop in southwest Little Rock, a Subway sandwich > shop, and a Hardee's Restaurant are in the same building as the > convenience store...along with gas pumps outside for cars and trucks. JM> I remember the name because we had a locally owned hardware store JM> here for years and years called Love's. Love's or Lowe's...? There are Lowe's (big box) hardware stores here... I've not seen Lowe's Truck Stops here, though... JM> It was a small old-fashioned place, crammed floor to ceiling with JM> all sorts of things. Shelves and shelves of odds and ends in the JM> hardware business with a display of larger items, which were kept in a JM> back room. Need a left handed hammer? They had one. :) JM> If one couldn't find what they wanted just ask any clerk and they JM> knew exactly where it was. JM> No big flashy place like big box hardware stores. We had a place like that here in our neighborhood... Hunt's Hardware, a family-owned business for 4-5, maybe more, generations... just like you describe... and our go-to place... :) They closed forever a few years ago, as the next generation wasn't interested in carrying on the tradition... and is sorely missed by the neighborhood... They were almost the last one in the area... and the only other one near us closed this year... So now we have to go to the big box places, which don't have nearly as much of the "strange" stuff... ttyl neb ....
