When it was absorbed into the University Of Arkansas System (the main campus is in Fayetteville in northwest Arkansas), it became known as the University Of Arkansas At Little Rock, or UALR -- some refer to it as "the University of Absolute Last Resort". :P In the sports realm, only the Little Rock campus in the system doesn't have a football team at present (the main campus again, is at Fayetteville). But, both Fayetteville and Little Rock (possibly other campuses) have basketball...and one year, Arkansas didn't win their conference tournament, but UALR did...and as a result UALR went to "The Big Dance"...and knocked off Notre Dame in the first round. That angered so many Arkansas Razorback fans, it was pathetic. To make matters worse, Arkansas will NOT play any other in-state school. I guess they couldn't live it down if they got beat. So much has changed since I graduated over 36 years ago...as noted below. THEN: No dorms on campus. It was a commuter campus...and students lived in apartments off campus, or in homes with their parents. NOW: Dorms -- and freshman students are REQUIRED to live in them. THEN: Tuition was $400 a semester, with an average of $100 for books. (Arkansas residents). NOW: Tuition ranges from $9167 to $15292 per semester (higher for those who don't live in Arkansas). That includes an average of $900 for books, plus room and board, and tuition and fees. Many other schools are much higher than that. While going to UALR, I worked at 2 area Burger King restaurants, and lived at home, so I basically put myself through school. When I turn 65 (5 1/2 years from now), if I wanted to go back, I think I'd be exempt from tuition. Daryl === þ OLX 1.53 þ Overmedicated??
