  I write so few cheques today the registers that come with them are used
up in no time.

 I get so many calendars in the mail there's no need for
> me to print any out.... I give most of them away....

  My calendars have 1x1.5" boxes.  I write a lot of stuff in there, such as
times and places where I'm working, appointments, notes of all sorts, etc. 
Most of those free one's don't have a large enough box for all that.
  Sometime after the new year that old calendar is put away and probably
never seen again, but its there in a box somewhere.
