   Mine is mostly a phone and that for work reasons.  (I have never called
someone just to chat. I always feel I'm interrupting them).
   And I have never been one, other than work related, to tear across a
room to answer a phone before the second ring.  I can tell by ring tones if
important or not.
   If I'm not doing something important I'll glance to see who its from. 
If I can't there is always voice mail, leave a message.
   I use it to surf the web once in a while.  Usually that is when I'm
dressed and ready for work only to find I have five to ten minutes before I have
to leave.  That is generally checking the weather or FB for a few minutes.
   When I am on a road trip I use the camera a whole lot.
