One gotcha is a string that spans multiple lines needs backslashes for continuation, for example:
"\r\nBulk Upload %s %s Directory\r\n"\                  265 BulkUpload
        "(Enter '-' for description to skip file):\r\n"

See that backslash following the closing-quote on the first line of that string? That's important.
