It's because you're using an editor not meant for data file editing on 
an iPad.  It's not the fault of the text.dat file.

In fact at least once, I created a testdat.js file *FOR* you, and stated 
how you could use that to replace strings for use on your BBS instead of 
continuing to edit the text.dat file... you blew it off at the time, and 
it's like a year later, and you still complain.

At this point, you are the problem and you don't really want a solution.
