If the key isn't configured, it'll default to a message format string and sent that as a short message to the recipient (data/msgs/*.msg). In v3.20, this feature was changed to use a (new) text.dat string instead. The mail server's "NO_NOTIFY" option flag can be used to disable this feature: https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/commit/99312621ae38ad326d4515fa596e8fe6c3a2ac50 These short messges (telegrams) are sent to user whether they are logged in or not. > I thought it used to happen, but I could be mistaken. > > When I am logged in, I do get a notification that an email had just been > received. > > Anyway that can be fixed (or added if I was mistaken and it was never > working)? > > IE: A "you've got new email" message when you log in. That's how it normally works. Perhaps you have something consuming/deleting your user messages? I think ecWeb will consume/delete user messages. Do you have that open/logged-in somewhere? -- digital man (rob) Sling Blade quote #13: Karl: He lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in.
