The IRC client on the BBS can be
configured to connect to whatever
server you want. The IRC server service
allows you to have your own chat area
(or server) separate from whatever
random public is using IRC out there.
Like if you have a group of friends
that wanted to chat somewhere without
the possibility of randos joining or
something.
