Subj : Wildcat! v4.20 To : All From : Joe Martin Date : Tue Jan 01 2019 10:14:48 Hi folks... I had an experience today I thought I would share with you. When logging into Wildcat! v4.20 this morning, I received some netmail messages and was replying to one which sent me off to ViaADDR!, the netmail 'door' which happily allowed me to accept the reply address. Upon recycling back to the BBS, Wildcat! detected I was out of time and promptly kicked me off stating I had exceeded my time limit. Obviously that wasn't the case (I had only been on a few minutes) so the whole thing sounded way too familiar. So I ran up my PATCHWC v3.00 program and checked the Epoch date on the WILDCAT.EXE and sure enough, it was set for 1919. Since today is the first day of 2019, this was the exact reason PATCHWC.EXE was created for. So I ran up PATCHWC.EXE and changed the Epoch date to 1930 and ran it against Wildcat!'s executables. Subsequent attempts at replying to netmails in Wildcat! were now successful and life is good. Long story short, if you run DOORs (of any kind) and have not patched your Wildcat! EXEs, or if your Epoch date was set to 1919 (as was mine), then you'll need to run PATCHWC against it and use at least 1920 as the Epoch date. If you need a copy of the program (it's free), let me know and I'll make it available for you.
