Subj : RE: Wildcat 8 To : Greg Youngblood From : TERRY ROATI Date : Tue Jul 09 2019 10:30:12 Hello Greg, It will not support 16 bit doors, best solution I found is to run GameSrv on a Oracle VM running XP Pro SP3. Are you still using Wildcat as I have not been able to connect to your system. I recently upgraded my system to get ready for Wildcat 8.0, I went from WIN 10 Pro 32 bit to 64 bit and can definitely see some things are now faster. Everything works fine on Wildcat 7, I also upgraded Oracle Virtual Server from 32 bit to 64 bit as well, Gamesrv still works fine. Terry - 3:640/1231 tfb-bbs.org See Comments below from Hector for more details. We will have a pure 32 bit v8.0 and a new 32/64 bit mixed bag v8.0 version. It will be 100% compatible which is why we have a mixed 32/64 version. wcBASIC WCX has to be stay 32 bit for now and odds are very good, the initial release will have a 454 Build number, that will allow mixing any 7.0.454.x release with 8.0. But v8.0 will some new important security features OpenSSL v1.1 which is a must and DKIM ECDH Encryption support (not important, but we need be among the first to have it). But we are not going to just have 3 different systems; 32 bit v7.0, 32 bit v8.0 and 32/64 v8.0 The only difference is the new things mentioned. We will always support all version that customers have, including 7.0, 6.0 and even 5.0, but if you need thiings that might have been fixed or only available on newer versions, well, as a standard practice, people may need to upgrade. Thats no different than yesteryears. But things are going to change - RAPIDLY. The AUP/Distribution will change although not with the first release of V8.0 but that plan could change too. We need to move on. Can't be the old way any more and after 25-30 years, its about time. Should of had the 64 bit version YEARS ago and almost immediately after we are finished with the new 32/64 v8.0 compilation, almost immediately, we got wcNAVIGATOR on the agenda! Can't wait for that project to start! But nothing will be released until v8.0 is stable. Soon, we will announce an official update to 7.0.454.7 that has some updates. Its has been available on the Alpha AUP server for a number of months. On Jul 02, 2019 03:35am, Greg Youngblood wrote to Robert Wolfe: GY> Re: RE:Are things going down?
