Subj : Todays Blooper +bills, ge To : August Abolins From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Oct 05 2020 10:01:00 Subject: Todays Blooper +bills, generators, sleep Hi Augus (and Daryl)! DS>> I guess I'll have to supply a self addressed stamped DS>> envelope for it. But, what they might do, if they have DS>> computer mailing label decals, is just put one of them over DS>> the address, and use it for something else. BM> I'd say no as that's just another expense. Lots of Big BM> Companies no longer provide an envelope much less prepay. BM> IMO providing the return address on the statement in a BM> format that could be cut out and used as a label is more BM> than enough (and yes, I have done that myself). AA> If there is no return stub, I just make a copy of a statement or AA> bill and fold it so that the company's business address appears AA> properly in a windowed envelope. The cheque slips in between the AA> folds and is obscured nicely. I've had instances where that's easier said than done but yes, there are ways, one just needs to be a little creative. And the problem here is we're talking 'dumb' people: we know how to comprehend and do something to get the job done whereas many people just have those cartoon question marks piling over their heads. BM> Frustrating, yes. Time to take a look as to why they're BM> using your address. How are the people getting it? If on the BM> statement your address is in 18 pt bold at the top and the BM> Treasurer's is 9 pt that might be a clue. If the back cover BM> has an 'article'"Have you paid your dues?" make sure it is BM> in a box outlined with a thicker line with the Treasurer's BM> address inside -- keeping it visually separate. AA> I was wondering about that too. Something is likely confusing AA> people who read the newsletter if payment address and newsletter AA> address appear on the same paper. Yes: what's clear to me might be muddled to you. Thinking "buy one, get one free". To most of us it's "of course the second one is the same or cheaper in price" but some people think "well, if I buy this one at a dollar the other one is free even though it's a hundred dollars". Have to spell it out. ...There was a on-line version of the Customer Satisfaction Survey and we'd get a lot of 6's and 7's just because the customers didn't scroll over to get to the 10. DS>> 3) Should I get a generator or not?? The commercials you DS>> see are very deceptive... that's just the price of the DS>> generator, and NOT including the labor and installation.. BM> Yes, I can somewhat easily find the price of the generator BM> (still would want assistance on the selection: might be BM> better to spend $200 more, or the two models are the same BM> price, this has a little less power but get this other BM> feature. Installation I'd figure would be about the cost of BM> the generator. AA> There is also the cost of maintenance and proper storage. AA> Depending on where you live, a generator spotted outside might AA> act as a shout-out to a thief. Right. I'd get some sort of a maintenance and service contract. Would be getting a permanently mounted generator (as opposed to a portable one) and probably would be behind the privacy fence almost to the back of the house because of location: otherwise would end up under a window and the code probably frowns on that due to CO fumes.. BM> One thing to consider is which direction you're pointed when BM> sleeping. I sleep better when my head is North (and feet BM> South). Growing up in NH I was constantly sleeping diagonal BM> in bed; sort of fogured out later it may have been because BM> the hardboard was East and I was trying to orient myself. BM> Moved out here; toss and turn. At first thought because new BM> surroundings, apartment noises, etc. Thought of the North BM> thing -- naaa! Well, I am head to South... Flipped the bed BM> around in the middle of the night so now head to North: BM> ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! AA> Never heard of such a thing as to affect sleep. Doing a mental AA> inventory on my sleeping position over the years, I have slept in AA> every direction! But the bottom line has been the comfort of the AA> bed.--- SBBSecho 3.11-Linux st_buffer * Origin: ILink:End Of The AA> Line BBS - endofthelinebbs.com (454:1/5016 AA> þ RNET 2.10U: ILink: Christian Fellowship þ cfbbs.no-ip.com þ AA> 856 933-7096 I'm leaving the ending in as somehow the tearbar didn't get placed correctly and maybe can get fixed. Nigel was having the occasional problem; wonder if this would be a clue? Anyway, as for sleeping compass direction, I don't recall hearing of it either. For me it was a while tossing and turning 'what else is different?' and 'head direction' seemed to be a logical option. LIS, switched the bed around and that took care of that. ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
