Subj : Todays Blooper To : BARRY MARTIN From : Daryl Stout Date : Thu May 09 2019 11:56:00 BM>Hi Daryl! Hi, Barry... BM> DS> Sundays off, anyway. Some are open Saturday mornings. BM>Here too. Not sure if by custom or legalities. (Semi-tangential) Car BM>dealerships are closed on Sundays because of an Iowa law. Every few BM>years a little bit of a buzz about opening but in general the public BM>(and so the dealers) like the dealerships to be closed to give a day to BM>wander without being bugged by salespeople. Same doesn't apply for the BM>banks, etc. The banks and liquor stores are closed on Sundays (the latter for the "Blue Laws", although there have been attempts to repeal such). The one day a year where most of the city shuts down is Christmas...but a few places still remain open. Of course, things like police, fire, paramedic, hospitals, etc. are open 24/7. Online banking is easy, but if you need to talk to someone, you have to call during "business hours".
