It is...you actually get "a dead virus" for your body to form antibodies against it. That reminds me...I need to get my flu shot this year. But, right now, I'm ALSO getting: 1) A B-12 shot, once a month, because the Ozemprazole (prescription Prilosec (the OTC doesn't work for me)), makes my B-12 level crash. 2) A testosterone shot for Low-T once a week, as the testapel (testosterone pellets) are STILL back ordered due to COVID-19. Low-T is basically "male menopause", but left untreated, it can create or aggravate cardiovascular and diabetes issues. However, I have arthritis so bad throughout my body (confirmed by X-ray), that whenever I get shots in the shoulder, it hurts even more than usual...and since I lie on my sides or stomach to sleep (I can't sleep on my back, especially with a urinary catheter), it makes it harder to sleep. So, I get the shot in the hip or more likely, the gleute (butt cheek). Yet, when they first do the injection, it feels like they're using barbed wire. The nurse sarcastically quipped "We dip the needles in rust before we use them" . I get full blood work in September and March, to check the Hemoglobin A1C, B-12, cholesterol, triglycerides, liver enzymes, blood count, blood sugar, and everything else. The A1C has been hovering around 6.1, and the threshold for Type 2 diabetes is 7.0 -- if I get diagnosed with such, that'll be a major game changer. I get a full physical and a full eye exam next March, and a colonoscopy next April. The bottom line is, if you aren't proactive on your health, you are sure to be sorry. Daryl .... WARNING!!
