Subj : Test message: High ASCII To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Tue Nov 20 2018 12:45:00 Hi Daryl! BM>I want to see to what ø this makes › to eveyone! BM>(I want to see to what degree this makes sense to everyone!) BM>Degree symbol is ALT_248. BM>Cents symbol is ALT_155 BM>Using ALT_0248 and 0155 displays the same here. BM>ALT_(0)176 is °. DS> Saw it fine here with OLX (Offline Express). But, some programs DS> (i.e. MultiMail and Notepad for Windows) won't let you use the DS> high ascii characters. Actually they do work fine with MultiMail -- maybe not with the usual plug-in editor. Using MM here with SEdit. Ahhh! NotePad displays the degree symbol as that mystery o-overstrike-/ character! ...And so does WordPad. OK, so that problem appears to be due to Microsoft's introductory-level word processing. DS> Andy Stewart, who did a bunch of doors years ago (they're now DS> freeware, but require a small TSR to make them run) also did a DS> program that will generate the list of high ascii characters, and DS> how to create them. That has been useful for me, when I create my DS> ANSI bulletins. DS> I first open up the MS-DOS Editor, and create an ASCII version. DS> Then, I change or add high ascii characters. Lastly, I add the DS> ANSI color codes. Not overly fancy, but it works. As long as it works! I've done than a few projects a little oddly because didn't know a better way (common for me!), the real way was too expensive for a one/few time use, etc., etc. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
