Subj : Re: Various Things (2) To : Barry Martin From : Daryl Stout Date : Fri Jan 27 2023 01:27:00 Barry, BM> Hi Daryl (2)! That's my other brother Darrell. Now, if your name had been Larry instead of Barry... BM> You forgot some of the oil and gas is extracted here in the U.S. The environmentalist idiots want us to get rid of LP gas, and go to electric, in all appliances. Well, when the power grid goes down in an EMP, all the electrical items will be worthless. And, many of these electrical cars are catching fire without warning...and many ferries have banned them from the vessels. BM> Constipation! (No sh--!) That's like these 2 guys in the shower, and one notices a cork stuck in his friend's butt. He asked him what that was for, and his friend said "I was walking on the beach one day, and stumbled on a bottle. When I kicked it, a genie came out, and said 'I can grant you any wish'. My mistake was when I replied 'No $h**??". In short, be careful what you wish for!! BM> Some people time things my meals, others by medications.... If I didn't have to take food with some of the medications, I'd be eating less. BM> Didn't even notice you had gone! Touche' -- nice pun. :) BM> I's also need a motorized one, though if possible one I could pedal (on BM> that flatter streets) to get some exercise, then flip over the motor BM> for when I get to the 1% incline. Probably so. But, finances are tighter than a frog's butt underwater. In going through the budget for next month, I've resolved that I'll no longer order out for meals via Grubhub, DoorDash, etc., as I can't afford it. And, I'll be limited in groceries. I went to use a deal with my HMO (I get a $65 allowance per month for food), but all the items I wanted were out of stock (it figures). BM> Underfunding, understaffing.... Yep. Or they don't want accountability or responsibility for their crimes, even though they are guilty. Well, when they go before The Supreme Court Of The Universe, not even Perry Mason will be able to help them. BM> I had heard Social Security and some other payments are probably going BM> to be in jeopardy of not being paid if the government goes into BM> default. I've also heard Social Security is self-funded and so does not BM> rely on government funding. There is more waste in the government than in one's excrement...and it all stinks. Years ago, it was like a toilet seat for thousands of dollars...there is no need for that price gluttony. I hope they're just using that as a scare tactic...but if the US does go into default from the debt ceiling, I don't want to be here when the bottom does fall out. The last time we had a balanced budget was nearly 30 years ago when Bill Clinton was President. It didn't take long for his successors, both Democrat and Republican, to balloon the deficit. BM> As for the value of the paper, I pretty much always took it as a symbol BM> -- 'trade balance-outer'. I work an hour and get $5 for the labour. I BM> want to buy a hamburger and don't have to work for them too but instead BM> give $1. I know money used to be based on gold, but gold was also a BM> balancer-outer: an hour of work was worth so much gold. ...I'd BM> probably would have been a lousy Economics professor! I saw where the price of gold, silver, and even bitcoin, has been going through the roof...although that recent crash with the FX deal had an effect on the bitcoin. Yet, if one is using money to buy toilet paper (a necessity), is that classed as buttcoin?? :P BM> No clue: I haven't needed to use a bus nor taxi in years, and no BM> experience with the ride-shares. That's all I can use now, since my vision made it too dangerous to drive anymore. BM> Yes, make use of those 'freebies'! I'm trying to be a frugal cheapskate. :P BM> Timing makes sense. Yeah, and I forgot to call them, as I got sidetracked with other things. I may cancel the mosquito treatment every 3 weeks, as that cost nearly $70 each time. I don't really have standing water outside now, since a water leak from a bad PVC valve was repaired. With the water line insurance I have with Service Line Warranties, there was no charge for the repairs. BM> The South has had some nasty weather! Snowing here this morning BM> (Wednesday, 01.25.23) -- looks to be just under an inch. No power BM> outages, haven't had a 'beep!' from the UPSs in a while, though BM> yesterday morning before the sun came up it looked like as across the BM> street (on a different power grid) may have had an outage as everybody BM> was dark -- just didn't have any outside visible lights on. Over 100,000 people lost power in the snow across west and north Arkansas last week. And, some models are hinting at a possible ice storm here by next Wednesday. If the CMC (Canadian) model verifies, my area is in trouble. The GFS isn't so aggressive, but all of the models have a hard time handling arctic air intrusions. Daryl ....
