Subj : Various Things (2) To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Thu Feb 23 2023 07:35:00 Hi Daryl! BM> I hate those huge windows -- a two or three hour window isn't too bad. BM> Even then usually your bladder or bowel wants a lot of attention! DS> That's my luck...when I have to go to the little Sysop's room DS> for an extended period (especially with being on Lasix, and just DS> having eaten a bunch of fibrous food), that they'll come to the DS> door. It wouldn't be so bad if someone else was here while I was DS> indisposed. Over the years I've sometimes left signs for the delivery person indicating I was currently in the bathroom. So far the timing has been such they weren't needed, but I'd rather have the slight embarrassment of letting the world know I was sitting on the throne than miss a signature-required delivery. DS> Gertrude and Heathcliff were casually flying through the air, DS> and a huge jet zooms by them. Gertrude asked Heathcliff "Did you DS> see how fast that bird was flying??". He replied "Shoot, honey. DS> If your tail was on fire, you'd move that fast, too!!" . Meanwhile Gertrude is wishing she was a train.... Oh: that was the other message! DS> Another day, Gertrude was complaining about how much of a pain DS> in the neck (and other places) that laying eggs was. Heathcliff DS> said "You're coming with me today. We're going downtown...they DS> say that the mayor is going to lay a cornerstone". (Whoa! That was a noisy gust of wind.) BM> The problem up here might be the storm (possibly ice storm as I BM> mentioned in the first part) might not be taken seriously. Here in the BM> Quad Cities we got 2-3" in the metro area; they were predicting up to BM> 6". (West and north get their predicted amount of almost a foot.) The BM> storm here also was 'lazy': they were closing schools and businesses BM> and it was barely snowing. By the closing times I think there was 2 to BM> to 3". ...Suppose better dafe than sorry. ...Know a few school kids BM> were all excited about having a Snow Day but wasn't enough snow in the BM> morning to go sledding. DS> It's better to be safe than sorry...especially in my part of DS> the country, where folks don't know how to drive on it. If you DS> cancel schools, and shut stuff down, it doesn't do much. But, if DS> you go ahead and do it, at the worst possible moment, the storm DS> decides to unleash its worst...and you have a real mess out DS> there. Heck up here we supposedly know how to drive in the stuff and look what sometimes happens. BM> True. I'll admit to thinking you're overly-cautious and you probably BM> thinking I'm throwing caution to the wind. Should there be a Huge BM> Lightening Storm in the nearby area I would do some unplugging. Some BM> lights would be kept on (expendable) so wandering-around safety. Would BM> probably also keep one TV on to monitor weather reports. Would be one BM> I wouldn't mind replacing! DS> I have a battery operated NOAA Weather Radio (Midland WR-120), DS> with SAME (Specific Area Message Encoder) capabilities. This DS> allows you to program the unit to sound the warning alarm for DS> selected watches and/or warnings, for the desired counties. I DS> take the one where I'm at, and the counties that surround it...to DS> get a little advance warning. I also have an app on the DS> smartphone, to alert me if lightning occurs within a certain DS> radius (I have it set for 25 miles), and to alert me every 15 DS> minutes. This is to alert me if something develops rapidly before DS> radar picks it up. I use the Radarscope app for my radar. Plus you've learned what the colours, symbols, etc., mean. LIS in the previous message, my little radar display was very colourful. Did note a definite line between the oranges and reds and the blues: the 32ø boundary. DS> Now, I'm hungry. But, if they didn't want us having a midnight DS> snack, why did they put a light in the refrigerator and freezer?? To wake up the flavours?! BM> When I bought my laser printer I also decided to go with the OEM BM> cartridges. Probably more expensive than refilled but I had had enough BM> 'issues' with the refilled inkjet cartridges to solidify the decision. BM> (I don't think problems were 100% the fault of the refills.) DS> I've greatly cut down on what I print. I've pretty much always tried not to waste paper and ink (now toner) but sometimes just a heck of a lot easier to look at a printout. And if the back of the printout is blank or sufficient portion is blank I'll use it for scratch paper. BM> I've read where some people have just purchased a new printer when they BM> run out of ink. DS> They're still going have to get ink. The new printers come with a starter container of ink. DS> There is a brand of Epson DS> printer where you can fill your own cartridges, I think...but DS> there's still cost and effort involved. I want it to be as DS> effortless and easy as possible, as I'm not technically inclined. Ages ago I considered the super-generic kit to fill ones own inkjet cartridges. Pretty much knew not for me: potentially too messy, plus I have the tendancy to over-do: I'd try to put just a little bit more ink in now so I'd have more time between fills. BM> I'd shout getting my clothes stained! Here noticed there was a dark BM> blob on the shelf under the printer. DS> Maybe the printer is taking a leak. It did have a case of incontinence! ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® .... People run around in circles = crazy.
