Subj : Various Things (2) To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Feb 27 2023 08:44:00 Hi Daryl! BM> Over the years I've sometimes left signs for the delivery person BM> indicating I was currently in the bathroom. So far the timing has been BM> such they weren't needed, but I'd rather have the slight embarrassment BM> of letting the world know I was sitting on the throne than miss a BM> signature-required delivery. DS> Issuing an important poopal edict in the process. :P I saw a DS> meme where in Taco Bell, there were replacing the seats with DS> toilets...and another related meme noted "I got gas for under $1 DS> today, but it was at Taco Bell"!! If those old man using the walker and rooler skates can do it..... BM> Meanwhile Gertrude is wishing she was a train.... Oh: that was the BM> other message! DS> Training for what?? Everyone brings happiness to this room: some by coming, some by leaving! BM> Heck up here we supposedly know how to drive in the stuff and look what BM> sometimes happens. DS> An overnight winter storm is God saying "take today off". And the Devil made Zoom Meetings! BM> Plus you've learned what the colours, symbols, etc., mean. LIS in the BM> previous message, my little radar display was very colourful. Did note BM> a definite line between the oranges and reds and the blues: the 32ø BM> boundary. DS> Yeah, the radarscope app has that as well. But, if the DS> temperature is forecast to be below 35, it's time to stay home DS> (even though I do that all the time now, after ending driving DS> last summer). A few years ago I had left for a doctor's appointment -- was cold and raining when I left. (Don't recall the temperature.) About a mile and the rain is starting to get a little hard; bit further and really hard! Maybe I can go the three more miles to my appointment and by the time I'm done things will be cleared? ...About a minute later changed my mind -- now to figure a flat way back home: want to avoid hills! BM> I've pretty much always tried not to waste paper and ink (now toner) BM> but sometimes just a heck of a lot easier to look at a printout. And BM> if the back of the printout is blank or sufficient portion is blank BM> I'll use it for scratch paper. DS> My late Mom did that with several items...but I rarely print DS> anything anymore, especially considering the cost of ink DS> cartridges. And, as I've noted before, Canon and HP won't let you DS> use "generic recycled ink cartridges"...you have to buy the more DS> expensive name brand. Otherwise, the software says "you're out of DS> ink", and it won't let you print stuff. Right, and from what I've heard some colour printers won't let one print using just black if the colour cartidges are out/missing. I think my printer is one of those; just ordered Yellow and Cyan over the weekend. Don't need either quite yet and was going to wait but saw something which changed my mind: one of my sources was out of stock (really??!! this is not a garage company) and Amazon was '10 left' in one colour and '6 left' in the other. Ayeee!! BM> The new printers come with a starter container of ink. DS> I can't afford any new hardware of software anymore. If there was some sort of (worthwhile) buy-back for the barely-used printer it might be worth considering. Personally I have a hard time tossing away an otherwise perfectly good piece of hardware. BM> Ages ago I considered the super-generic kit to fill ones own inkjet BM> cartridges. Pretty much knew not for me: potentially too messy, plus I BM> have the tendancy to over-do: I'd try to put just a little bit more ink BM> in now so I'd have more time between fills. DS> I just cut down on what I print. No problems with the cartridge drying out? DS> Maybe the printer is taking a leak. BM> It did have a case of incontinence! DS> Maybe the air bladders in the cartridges were weak. :P Kegel exercises! ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
