Subj : Various Things To : Barry Martin From : Daryl Stout Date : Tue Dec 20 2022 06:02:00 Barry, BM> As long as it stays good you're fine! My bilirubin results just into BM> the high side by a decimal point or two. Have been for consistent for BM> decades. (Hey: someone has to be on the norms up! ) Christian comedian Chonda Pierce has sleep apnea (I do as well). She said her reading in the sleep study was "very high", and she quipped "I've always been an over achiever". But, she added that "you look like an astronaut with that mask on, then have this huge hickey all over your face!!". :P They've made progress with these, but the one I originally had required water...and the way lightning occurs here during thunderstorms, I could be fatally electrocuted if an overnight lightning strike occurs. I have no idea where it is now...somewhere in the stuff in the garage, but after hernia surgery awhile back, I can't lift anything heavy. Shoot...just the food off the plate to the mouth (I do watch what I eat ) can be a major effort...especially this time of year. I'm trans-slender, but I identify as "skinny". I told Santa "Define Naughty", and he said "OK, I'll skip your place". BM> Sort of a mixed metaphor: never look at a doctor's bill on an empty BM> stomach. That happened in an episode of The Flintstones. When Fred and Barney entered the clinic, this guy was coming out screaming in agony. Fred asked if the guy was OK, and the nurse said "He's fine...the doctor just showed him the bill". BM> I initially read as "polite"!! The dry corneas with my eyes have been really bad lately. With the central heat running nearly constantly with the cold weather outside (it'll really be brutal here Thursday afternoon until after Christmas), my eyes and sinuses have been drying out. BM> But where did you find those high-heeled sequined cowgirl boots in your BM> size?! Pandora's Palatial Palace. BM> Those darn Raspberry Pi's have become real expensive due problems in BM> the semiconductor market. Good news is just read a 100,000 (not sure BM> of the number) will be available soon. Hopefully the ones I ordered BM> over a year ago at normal price will be shipped. (Good news: my credit BM> card hasn't been charged. Bad news: makes statement reconsiliation a BM> hare more complicated.) There is a different type of RPi now, called an ODroid N2+ -- you have to download a different version of Linux, but there's a 2GB and a 4GB version available, both from Amazon. It also has a large heat sink, so the data won't be throttled if the unit gets warm from use. It can be rather pricy though... I think around $200 for 2GB and $350 for 4GB (Canadian funds...not sure what the US equivalent is). BM> Oh now THAT makes an interesting mental image!! I ass-umed you would like that. BM> There's a few "comment cartoon panels" (not sure what they're called) BM> with pictures like Wile E. Cayote blowing up something, Elmer Fudd and BM> his rifle and the comment underneath along the lines of "I remember BM> watching these cartoons and I haven't blown anything up/killed anyone". BM> I don't think we knew better back then, possibly more how reacted. We were smart enough to know "Do Not Try This At Home". BM> Go back and rinse your mouth! As Crusoe the celebrity Dachshund, with his "sister" Daphne did, in preparing for "Hurricane Ding-a-Ling", they had plenty of fresh water... but it came from Eau De Toilet. :P BM> Those will help! ...Wondering how the "provide transportation" part BM> will be working: could be either a pre-paid type of service or BM> post-paid where you pay, submit the bill, and then get reimbursed. Not sure...there was some other mail in the Post Office Box this morning according to the Informed Delivery app...but with other expenses, I have to let it wait until after the new year. BM> "Homebound" could have a lot of consideration. If simply no car a lot BM> of people in New York City could qualify! "Can't leave the house" BM> almost implies one has an ankle monitor! That's true...but my criminal record is clean. Before I did a brief stint at the Little Rock 911 center (the stress is so extreme that only 1 out of 100 people can do it...I wasn't one of them), they did a full criminal background check on me. BM> Hmm: imagine a T. Rex as a waiter/waitress! Poor thing trying to carry BM> a platter with those short arms! He probably had one heck of a belch. :P Or, he could've been like Marvin the T-Rex in the Hoyle Board Games. BM> Yup. My Mother has sort of prepared herself for the potential nasty BM> weather: has a supply of food which should last at least a week. A BM> year or so I got her some LED nightlights with battery backup. I don't BM> think I've gotten through to her the cordless phones won't work if the BM> power is off but she does have several wired telephones. And she does BM> keep her cell phone charged though she tends to forget how to make BM> calls. We might get a dusting of snow here on Thursday, but could see a 30 degree temperature drop in 2 hours!! It'll be below freezing from Thursday afternoon until the day after Christmas...that's pipe bursting weather. I'm afraid many folks whose pipes freeze up will try to thaw them with a blowtorch, and end up burning their residence down. They're also warning folks to "stay off of the ponds", as the ice will be too thin to hold any kind of weight. BM> Step #1: Slow down!! I'm speeding because I have to go poop. :P BM> We had some light snow last night: lawn is white and some on the cars BM> but looks like the sidewalks, driveway and street is almost clear. BM> (That lat one wil probably change in a week or so!) Apparently, the cold will go all the way down through Florida...the winter clothes are broken out once it gets below 70!! They were expecting a freeze all the way to central Florida, if not further south. There goes the price of orange and grapefruit juice through the roof...just like all the rest of the groceries. BM> 12ø here currently at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning. High forecast to be BM> 22ø. ...Looked at a different report to get the forecast and it said BM> 9ø -- think the 9ø is the NWS at the Quad City Airport in Moline, IL, BM> about five miles East. The 12ø is probably from a hobbyist a few BM> blocks from here. There's another NWS at the Davenport (IA) municipal BM> airport about seven miles northwest and not unusual to have a four or BM> five degree difference. That's the same with the Little Rock National Airport, and the National Weather Service at the North Little Rock Airport...the latter is on a hill, and on some nights, the temperature difference can be from 10-20 degrees!! BM> Just how cold is a stone? That's probably part of the Congressional earmarks and pork to study that. I still want to know how much of our tax dollars was spent to determine that "everyone farts...from 15 times a day, to 20 times an hour". That was a very crappy waste of money, IMO. :P Nature and a nightmare woke me...so after I finish the BBS stuff, I'm going back to bed for a bit. Daryl .... A government shutdown is redundant. === MultiMail/Win v0.52 --- SBBSecho 3.15-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS - Little Rock, Arkansas (454:1/33) .
