Subj : Re: Various Things To : Barry Martin From : Daryl Stout Date : Mon Dec 26 2022 06:40:00 Barry, BM> Now to pray for a headache remedy! That's like the joke about the guy's wife napping in bed. He wakes her up with some aspirin and a glass of water, as she had been "puny" a few days earlier. She asked what the pills were for, and her husband said "A headache". When she said "I haven't got a headache", he replied "That's what I've been waiting to hear". BM> Especially here it's just after breakfast! Every day is a new chance...to screw things up. BM> I eat my peas with honey, BM> I've done it all my life. BM> It makes the peas taste funny BM> But it keeps them on the knife! I think of the joke about the difference between prose and poetry. Poetry rhymes, but prose does not. Little Mary got careless, and fell into a well. Tragically, she couldn't swim, and died and went to... Well, what do you want?? Prose or Poetry?? BM> That is not a pretty thought! As the grandmas shouted "Revenge is a dish best served cold!!". BM> Got that. Have also seen where there was a scientific paper of which BM> the researchers determined kids' eating of -- umm - their nasal BM> discharge provided a boost to their immune systems. (I'm wondering BM> what's the difference to just swallowing it?) I saw another story where that was snot the case, health wise...and it was nothing to sneeze at. :P BM> Probably would be even better to stop and take a break before your BM> notice. Maybe get one of those timer utilites where it overlays your BM> screen with a reminder to take a break. There was an ANSI TSR several years ago, that was harmless, but after a set number of keystrokes, it would do one of the following!! 1) Flash a sign screaming "GET BACK TO WORK!!" 2) Have an ANSI of a clown flicking his tongue at you. 3) Act like the computer was out of order, but all you would need to do is hit ANY key to restore things. I still haven't found that one, or the control key, the day, I lost CTRL. BM> I think the Medicare Supplement I currently have (for 2022) would have BM> gone up a few dollars except my financial advisor found a better plan BM> and so I'll be saving around $35 a month. When you have to live on the cheap, you do whatever you can. I can only splurge on ordering out once a month now. BM> You're going to hate me: maybe ten or more years ago my Credit Union BM> offered an ID Plan for $1 a month! Definitely keeping my payments on BM> that one! Well, after going through Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in 2009, I no longer have a credit card...just a bank debit card. BM> I'm not sure on the medical specialists one. Medicare has a deductible BM> and fee schedule - I just verify the amouts and pay. Initially I was BM> thinking the $25 was a co-pay even though didn't read that way, so for BM> the co-pays topic I don't know: all of a sudden I didn't need to pay a BM> co-pay. As for saving $25, works for me! As noted, wherever you can save, works. BM> You can celebrate the first trash collection of 2023 with me! That reminds me...I need to take the garbage out, although none of it was from Christmas stuff. There was nothing Christmas related here... no decorations, music, lights, trees, gifts, etc. BM> I remember someone doing that! They probably got severe burns on their backside. BM> Uh-huh! I'm thinking if toilet tank water was the last thing available BM> I'd drink it after semi-purifying it: boil it and maybe also a few BM> drops of bleach. As for the bowl water: no amount of boiling and BM> bleach...! I saw a meme where the dog was screaming "Dude!! That's My Water Bowl!!" DS> So, you want to skip 2023 and 2024?? :P BM> For you, yes! No, I'm not transferring my wealth the next 2 years to you. Besides, a penny is a dollar with all the taxes taken out. BM> on him. Ended up they were looking for him for an incident a few BM> blocks from here. At least they got their man. BM> I'm getting a strange mixed mental image of a cartoonish space gun with BM> a slow-motion close-up mushroom exploding its spores! Never mind Duck Dodgers in the 24 and a half century!! BM> We got about 2" of snow two days ago, lowest air temperature I remember BM> was -11øF, wind chill of -47øF. Currently (Saturday morning at 7:30) BM> it's -1øF, WC -21øF. Good news: supposed to warm up to about 4 or 5 BM> degrees above!! End of the week supposed to be in the low 40's!! They are talking thunderstorms (some severe), with flooding rain the latter part of this week...and early next week could have a significant area of severe weather, according to some long range progs I've seen. BM> Yup! I haven't been out of the house except to get the mail. Too cold BM> to shovel plus would just blow back anyway. There are pine needles on BM> the snow in the front yard -- the trees are along the fence in the back BM> yard! I lost power for 30 seconds the other morning, but left the faucets dripping to ensure the pipes wouldn't freeze. A slightly higher water bill is a lot cheaper than calling a plumber. BM> So scary I not only make my passengers poop but myself also?! I'm speeding because I have to go poop. :P BM> And so Daryl ends up on the Naughty List once again! I never left it...that's why I'm Sysloppious. Daryl ....
