Subj : Various Things To : Lee Green From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Dec 26 2022 07:29:00 Hi Lee! LG> What symptoms do you get with dry corneas? Generally starts with an 'uncomfortableness' of the eye, possible redness of the white of the eye (could be just the veins so a spidery look) or a pinkish hue. The cornea itself gets its oxygen directly from the air. Blinking helps to keep the surface of the eye moist by spreading tears. LG> My eyes sometimes get blurry like I'm looking thru a mirage LG> usually starts when looking at bright things like the white LG> screen or tv or bright lights I have to put something cold on my LG> eyes like a cold bottle of water or soda can and lay down and LG> close my eyes for a bit then it's gone until the next time. I've experienced the eventual blurryness when looking at something in close range such as paperwork, book, monitor, for a longer time and my contact lenses needed to be updated (one or both. Far vision (TV viewing, etc.) was fine. As for the bright light issue I remember having to turn down the brightness and possibly adjust the contrast with a new monitor: default setting is too bright for me. Another option might be to alter the Colour Temperature mode. This is the one that sets the overall hue/tone of the screen: reddish, blueish, think there's a third one. In light bulbs this is the equivalent of Warm White, Bright White, etc. Might be time for a real eye exam, and now you might have additional details to discuss. Personally I have had not the best experience with the fast-in-and-out type of optometrist. Just thought of something else to try: sunglasses! You stated the brightness bothers you, and a good pair of lightly tinted sunglasses might help. I'm thinking polarized lenses, or at minimum a good-quality lens: don't want to induce a distortion! Too dark will probably be a problem looking at the monitor; those "rose coloured glasses" might be helpful as they'd soften the light and maybe block a bothersome range. -> BM> Right: it hasn't been cold enough long enough to have the pond water -> BM> freeze to a sufficiently thick depth. -> DS> At this typing (1am CST, Dec. 23, it's down to +5 with a wind -> DS> chill of -18!! Currently (Saturday morning at 7:30) -> it's -1øF, WC -21øF. Good news: supposed to warm up to about 4 or 5 -> degrees above!! End of the week supposed to be in the low 40's!! LG> It's a warm 80ø here in Los Angeles for xmas. LG> I just had to let you guys know how nice the weather is. Pbbbtttt!!! To my mind cold temperature (though let's not be ridiculous!) and a little snow on the ground (not over-achieving like Buffalo NY!) is the right thing for the Christmas season. In college I had friends from Australia and New Zealand and their seasons are reversed to here. Just odd for swimsuits in December and parkas in July. ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
