His rap sheet at the end went on for several minutes!  The whole thing
was almost like a movie with near-impossible squeeze-throughs.  And yes,
the pretty-much perfect trailer event; at least three takes in a movie!

Or the persistent thought they can get away because they are smart and 
we are the dumb/bad ones.

I can see that: they have to figure out, generally by themselves or as
leader of a small team, prety much all of the who-what-when-and-how.

Plus would (and did) throw off the police for a bit: they were looking 
for a 'Michael Smith', which would not be just attaching a name to the 
person they were looking for but I would presume the databases were 
searched for the various Michael Smith's in the area and where in the
past they liked to hide, and friends/acquaintances in the neighbourhood,
etc.
