Even with the labels my cables still get intertwined!! <g>

Here I do label some of my cables and does help if something isn't 
wprking/working correctly: for Ethernet cables lots of time will use the
last dotted quad to identify (IP = 192.168.4.17, so label = 17.)  Even 
if the device gets combined and updated at least I have a clue to look 
at cable 17.

AC do the same: 'monitor', which wall wart it for, etc.  

Old technique was use bread tags.  Works for a few years until the 
plastic gets brittle.
