Subj : weather was: food option To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Wed Sep 04 2019 09:12:00 Hi Nancy! BM>> Even though I never had to commute for a long distance for work one of BM>> the requirements for a car I was purchasing was air conditioning: BM>> don't want to begin the work dayy all sweaty and perspiration-soaked BM>> clothes! As for your heat wave, glad was short and you had a breeze. NB>> So were we... ;) My first car (and maybe my second) didn't have a/c, NB>> but after renting a car that did have it, and finding that my NB>> allergies were triggered less, we made sure to have it in our cars, NB>> too... :) It's become pretty standard nowadays, anyway... ;) BM> Yes, along with power steering, power brakes, electric windows.... I BM> do have a checklist of sorts to remind of the personal requirements. BM> Rear window defogger/defroster is another. NB> In NYS, that last has been required for decades... It may be NB> still classified as an option, but the vehicle can't be sold here NB> without it... considered a safety item... Easier to see that car behind and one lane over so can change lanes! BM>>>> Will do some weeding later today when things dry out a little ==> BM>>>> have previously weeded but the little nuisances like to grow! Will BM>>>> wait until the moisture on the weeds dries out so my fingers don't get BM>>>> get soogy - gloves just don't allow me to get a good grip, etc. NB>>>> Those pesky weeds do have their tricks to keep you from pulling NB>>>> them.... ;) BM>>> Some have a sticky white sap, others are very tenacious. As the BM>>> 'rule' says, if it comes out easy it's a flower! NB>>> More'n likely.... ;) BM>> I've learned (sort of!) if I'm weeding in an area where it could be a BM>> flower or desired plant to leave it and ask. And then sometimes I'll BM>> leave a weed on purpose because it looks nice and is in a position BM>> where doesn't look out of place. NB>> If it has a nice flower, and/or is a nice looking plant, I don't NB>> consider it a weed anymore... BM> Me too, though that doesn't mean someone else around here won't BM> deposit it in the yard bag! ...Then we have a plant we're not sure if BM> it is a rebirth of a purchased plant which was dinner for a critter or BM> a halfway nice looking weed growing where the plant was. Hasn't BM> attempted to flower, but of the other for-sure plants it's supposed be BM> one flowers constantly and the other has a flower once in a while. BM> Leaves are similar but different on all three. NB> As long as it has promise, might as well keep it... are the other NB> two annuals or perennials...? If the latter, an new season might NB> answer the question.... especially if it ends up flowering like NB> the other two... or doesn't return at all... ;) I think perennials: this year whatever was planted in the ground was supposed to be a permanent flower; annuals go in the flower pots (where'd perennials would have their roots frozen). ...And the weather is doing the Fall/Summer Swing currently: 80-something degrees yesterday, this morning 56ø but humid: offically 93% and I think they reported a five-mile visibility. Today and the rest of the week only supposed to get into the low-to-mid 70's; Sunday ansiweather showing 62ø as the predicted high (!!); don't recall it that low on the TV but they extended a few days further and was in the 80's again. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
