Waking up to a little over an inch of snow and 24ø. Only supposed to get another inch or two -- don't want that ten inches quite yet! Hope your's is the light fluffy kind and not the soggy heavy type. Oh: had a quirky little thing happen yesterday afternoon. We're standing in the kitchen - bright flash -- what was that?! From where I was standing it looked like the flash reflected off the cabinet, so through the Dining Room window and outside to the west, Could also have come from the other side (east), through the Living Room, reflecting off the cabinets behind me on to the set I was loojing toward. We go out to check, scanning to look for anything wrong: smoke, especially. Nothing - good (?). Across the street (east, so Living Room direction) no one outside but all the windows look dark. Middle of Sunday afternoon so hard to tell, but a couple of lights we thought had been on were definately off. I go on-line to check the MidAmerican Power Outage Map. Pretty quite. Scroll in: yup, dot right about where I live: 3:07 p.m., estimated 26 people effected. Later did see power trucks. That flash though! Like a bright camera strobe. Don't recall any flash when 'our' pole transformer blew its fuse and that's in the backyard, not across the street and the neighbours' backyards. (Afterthought) Recalling a light 'boom' which made me think a lightening strike, but sounded wrong. Also the UPSs didn't chirp, so the power didn't glitch, which I thought odd. Across the street is on a different grid but with that bright flash would have expected a power dip. BM>> Yes....
