BM>> We had two semi-local incidents, one in Iowa and the other in BM>> Illinois, of drivers speeding: one was 121 MPH, the other 123 MPH. BM>> AFAIK the posted limits were 70 MPH. I remember hearing one excuse was BM>> "I wanted to see how fast it would go". NB>> They do have things like race tracks and test drive tracks for that NB>> sort of testing out capabilities..... ;) Sometimes one can get away NB>> with it... but not if there are police set up and watching the area.. ;) BM> For those with that "I wanted to see how fast I could go" mindset BM> probably a spur of the moment lark than something satisfied by BM> planning. There are at least two racetracks locally. NB> Unfortunately true... ;) And the sane part of the brain didn't NB> kick in fast enough to stop the impulse... ;) In most cases it doesn't. Personally I'm not interested in speed/speeding/going super-fast. I can sort of understand others' interest and challenge. Apparently my 'sane brain' kicks in at some relatively low speeds. NB>> ... My support group for procrastinators hasn't met yet. BM> Gee, I should modify that one to 'procrastinating helpers' to use with BM> the beginning portion! I'll have to put that on my To Do List - BM> eventually.... NB> Right. ;) And thanks for the reminder: I hadn't gotten to it yet! NB> ... I've got only one other speed, and it's slower. - Sign in a NB> diner For some reason reminded me of when I went down to New Orleans with a classmate. No, wasn't for Mardi Gras - was a couple of weeks before or after (I've forgotten which) but we was from a town outside N.O. and went to visit family and friends. (BTW, this was 1976 or 1977.) He purposely stopped at a gas station on the southern side of the Mason- Dixon Line. Attendant shuffles out to fill the tank, clean windshield, etc. -- all sort of in slow motion. My friend had sort of forewarned me of this; LIS he had stopped partially for my 'entertainment' as a 'Yankee'. There was definitely no rushing! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
