Subj : Eggs! To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Wed Jan 29 2020 08:42:00 Hi Nancy! BM>>>> I'm thinking from the wind, plus when we did have the winds saw some BM>>>> pine cones travelling through the air a pretty good distance from the BM>>>> trees. NB>>>> That would make good sense, then.... ;) BM>>> Yes: wouldn't seem like a pine cone would travel that far but there is BM>>> a difference between carried by the wind and thrown. Broken-off pine BM>>> twigs have landed near the house and on the deck, porch and roof; have BM>>> seen those flying through the air. NB>>> Yup... winds can be pretty powerful... :) BM>> Fun to watch as long as no damage! NB>> And from safely inside, as well.... ;) BM> Where's it's comfortably warm! ...Or cool: had some strong windstorms BM> last summer also. NB> I'd think a summer windstorm would tend to be cooling... but NB> probably a bit more exciting than I want to be out in... ;) As long as they don;t talk about a wind chill factor with a summer breeze is probably OK! Or if the winds decided to spin around in a funnel shape! NB>>>> Generally, though, not intentionally... just the way Life ends up NB>>>> working out... :) During "travel season", we shop any day that works NB>>>> out with the travel schedule... ;) BM>>> Makes sense. :) "No, I can't make the trip then: I have to go grocery BM>>> shopping!" NB>>> Nope, that wouldn't fly.... ;) Shopping is either the day before NB>>> I leave, or waits till I get home.... ;) BM>> Feast or famine for The Wizard! NB>> If it looks like there's plenty, it waits... otherwise I do it just NB>> before, which also lets me get stuff for the trip if needed... NB>> Besides, if he needs something while I'm gone, he's capable of getting NB>> stuff from the store himself, too... ;) BM> Makes sense. :) I'd probably be doing the same. NB> Sure beats having to set everything up for him before I can NB> leave, such as some women complain of having to do... ;) I could see some preparation: depending on the length of time a couple/few heat-and-eat meals. I'd think most people who don't normally cook (thinking of one of my store managers -- she never cooked) some relatively simple like spaghetti and a canned sauce, beans and hot dogs, hamburgers. BM>>> Right: know there are seasonal flavours and packaging -- remember a BM>>> 4th of July red white and blue. As for my coffee flavoured M&Ms was BM>>> looking up something for somebody else and was reminded to look for BM>>> 'my' M&M's - Amazon does have them (as did the other item I was looking BM>>> up) and so I may just have to order some! ...That will probably BM>>> guarantee them also showing up at the store!! NB>>> It might... You could also ask the store if they plan to have NB>>> them back at any time.... ;) BM>> Yes: have thought to ask and haven't yet -- insert flimsy excuse here! NB>> Have to think of it at the right time, when someone that would know NB>> would be there, after all.... BM> Agree. I know a few people who could look in to it, just a matter of BM> remembering when I see them, plus not being interrupted by something BM> more urgent. NB> Or simply more distracting... ;) Me? Get distra-- squirrel! And good news: the opportunity did come up last week: the candy section had been moved because of the store remodelling and Sue was restocking -- chat-chat, brought up about my 'missing' coffee-flavoured M&Ms. She looks to make sure I haven't overlooked; said she'd look into it. BM>>> And hopefully they take the blood pressure reading before BM>>> the double espresso! NB>>> I don't use those automatic blood pressure machines... even the NB>>> ones in the doctor offices tend to give bad readings for me... BM>> For me it's so far so good: I've mentally cross-checked the readings BM>> of the automated machines with the ones done manually and for me within BM>> a few mm. Varying times between -- days to weeks. My blood pressure BM>> has been fairly stable for decades. NB>> You are one of the lucky ones... :) BM> Yes, though I have been taking a beta blocker because of a rapid heart BM> beat. NB> That would tend to even things out, true... :) Unchecked, between the two I think I'd rather have the tachycadia over a too-high pressure. Too-low and I'd probably be bruised form picking myself off the floor! BM>> So you have a "Usual #1" and "Usual #2" at a Japanese BM>> restaurant?! NB>> Actually, more like three or four, there, so would have to specify... NB>> But if, say, I order the sashimi bento box, Lin knows that I'd want NB>> it all salmon sashimi, eel avocado roll sushi, and a wasabi shumai NB>> instead of the regular shumai... And every so often, I shake it up NB>> and order something else from the menu besides the ones I regularly NB>> cycle thru... :) BM> You wild woman you!!! Yes, as a regular the staff should know BM> or at least verify your preferences. NB> I do tend to warn her when I'm deviating from the norm... ;) But NB> other things stay pretty constant, like wanting hot tea to drink NB> (and specifically will ask for water with lemon, if we want that NB> in addition) or not needing a spoon for the soup... :) Not enough of eating out much less have a Usual but I/we do _ask_ vs. demand; the only time I ca think of where we got a bit into the demand aspect was had returned to a restaurant about a month later (had a gift card) and the original visit the steak was overdone: getting into medium-well when we order rae or medium rare. Tasty, just not to our preference. So at the second visit we got a little picky on the doneness and explained why; this time came out just right. Won't be back though: they closed. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
