I did install a new one, but only after I started having major problems. I did have to change some AT commands. I actually have added something to the init string to try to limit the speed on calls because I know anything above 14.4k is likely not going to work. This modem will only allow me to restrict to 9600 so that is where I have it set. If I try to restrict to 14.4 or 19.2, it will allow calls up to 56k which I know won't work! :D That said, unlike previous USR modems I have had, I do not think that setting affects inbound calls, which means that callers can try to call at whatever speed they want.
