It's there. I just checked. Link is correct. Title: Ubuntu Replaces Sudo with Untested Rust Alternative in Next Release Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Lunduke Also on Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/Lunduke He's worth following. There's a lot of really ugly crap going on with all the well-heeled "open source" foundations right now, and with corporate DEI (now becoming Federal discrimination lawsuits). > I've not heard of Rust, but then I also haven't heard of a lot of stuff. No one in their right mind has heard of Rust. It's supposed to be a replacement for C/C++ with "safe" memory management. It's Mozilla's baby, and they've been rewriting Firefox in Rust for several years now. I think the reality is that since Mozilla Foundation is now mostly an unabashed money laundry (it's one of the "programs" nuked from USAID, which in turn is mostly a CIA slush fund, now consider why the CIA would want to fund a browser, and the new Firefox TOS that makes it outright spyware) and "team of global activists" (Mozilla's words), they can't get good programmers anymore, who actually know enough to avoid the common pitfalls Rust is supposed to prevent. > On-line/in forums seems to be lot of varying problems with 24.04; I Yeah, I've been hearing screams of dismay. Apparently lots of stability issues. I think if I had to use Ubuntu, well, first I'd stick forks in my eyes, then I'd freeze it on a working version and call it a day. > haven't noted a pattern of hardware (IOW all 'Snizzle' CPUs with > 'Fizzle' video cards -- fake brand names) always causing a problem. As to that... there are gaps in the kernel's support. Supposedly all AMD cards are supported, right? Nope. I can show you two Dell OEM cards (common as dirt) of the same (relatively recent) model but slightly different chipset, where one is supported and the other is not. Perfectly good working cards in Windows. Not in ANY species of linux. (Five unrelated distros, same problem. Concluded it's a kernel bug.) > Back to Rust and the video, I'll try again in a few hours.
