Even if it is a flatpak it can get broken. I was running an older version of shotcut, installed outside of apt/dpkg, because the debian version that came with 11 or 12 did not work. I always assumed it needed too many resources. With the upgrade to 13, it became unable to render video. I was able to install the version that comes with 13 and it did work, thank goodness. About the only way to keep older versions working is to run a vm with the older distro, or stop upgrading.
