Oh, the purpose of that is to have something between that wears out instead of wearing out your ethernet port, should you need to plug and unplug the cable a lot (motherboard ports are usually rated for about a thousand plug-and-unplugs, but the ports often break off long before that). It's not going to improve their port's seating any.
